The re-Start of the Blog

Guess who’s back… Back again… (do you hear Eminem in your head?!)
Again… a recap.  This may be ridiculous; blogging like I used to do back in the day, but at this moment, God’s doing something, just not sure what, so I’m going with it. I’m setting my expectations low and only covering these headers every Monday.

Let’s see what my brain pops up to fill in about this last week… It’s a surprise to you AND me.

TIMELINE DOTS (What would make it as a DOT on this year’s timeline)

  1. We have entered the world of Travel Softball… dun dun DUUUhhhhh… Tessa signed with the IVC Ghosts travel softball league.  Nervous AND excited.

  2. The girls started school!  And I have a high schooler (and she had a birthday this week).  WHAT?!?!

HOLY SPIRIT MOMENTS

I have been going through the New Testament with The Bible Recap by Tara Lee Cobble.  Proof time & time again that scripture us living & active.

  1. I need to deep dive into spiritual depravity.  I will talk more on this soon.

  2. The Pharisees created all these “gatekeeping” rules so that the people wouldn’t toe the edge, but also make things unattainable.  Then they would hold people accountable to these lofty rules so as a way to control them and kind of keep them under their thumb.  I’ve caught myself doing this to my kids.  Makes me want to puke a little actually… which leads me to my #3

  3. So often with those closest to us, we are more concerned about safety & security than we are about giving them space to be used by God.  The testimony of my child is created in her relationship with God.  How have I unnecessarily inserted myself?

SHOPPING CART

  • Ugh… this is kind of so lame.  #adulting We somehow lost the door dinger at the feed store.  It would go off when the front door would open.  We would take it off the charger cord and move it to the warehouse so we could work out there and see if someone is in.  I bought a new one to replace it and it’s terrible.  2/5 do not recommend.

  • For Rue’s bday, I get her the 2-pack of black leggings.  They are a staple around here. Rue & Tess swear by them!   HERE’S THE LINK (off the record, do we really need to photoshop the rear end to be THAT big. eye roll )

  • I got this cute little measuring cup & spoon rack for the inside door of my cooking cabinet.  So far so good! HERE’S THE LINK

BEST & WORST PHOTOS

  • BEST: My girls’ “1st Day of School” photo.  The sky was ominous but made for a great photo! SEE ABOVE

  • WORST: A check-in photo of Monty, my roomie praying mantis who eats all out flys.  DANG I need to clean my window sills.

TOP RECIPES

We ate 2 of our tried and true meals. Both 30 minutes of less.

  • Chicken quesadillas:

    • Rotisserie chicken chopped and mixed with taco seasoning, bacon bits, and shredded cheese on a burrito size soft shell and folded in half.

    • Put it in the oven on 400 degrees for 10ish minutes until the outside starts turning brown and you bite into a little crunch.

    • BONUS: I add salsa and sour cream and lettuce and cilantro.  My girls dip in ranch dressing.

  • Chicken Teriyaki

    • Cup up mostly frozen chicken breasts & put them in the instant pot with a cup of chicken broth and lots of squirts of the Kinder Teriyaki sauce (or obviously one of your choice).  Set it for pressure cooker 7 minutes & then let is set for 3 and vent the rest.

    • We eat it over Ben’s rice pouches and add cooked broccoli and more sauce.

Even Jo eats the chicken from these meals so we are calling it a win!

FINAL BRAIN DUMP

I’m really struggling with not directly financially contributing to our family income.  I almost applied for a waitressing job this week.  I know that I’m good at it & I can bring in grocery money, BUT would I be taking the easy way out instead of diving in to see what God might be doing next? Discomfort & hard work = Growth

On a lighter note, I tried the Taco Bell Tajin Cheesy gordita crunch & it was life changing AND we tried the Starbucks Unicorn Drink, and although it was pretty, it tasted terrible.  Use that info as you will.

Just scanning over this post, I astound myself sometimes with complexity AND worthlessness of what is going on in my brain.  Wow.  just…. Wow.
