Baseball and Small Biz

TIMELINE DOTS

  • My email got hacked this week… that was a good time. *eye roll!

  • This was ACTUALLY fun… Last Tuesday, I got go to a Arcola High School and talk with the Co-op students about the Enneagram.  As a class they are studying their individual personalities.  Each student took the quiz to figure out their number and then we learned about each of their core motivations and fears.  I gave them each a pair of colored glasses based on what their number was and had them look at my jacket and tell me what color the flowers were.  Each color glasses saw a different color and some didn’t see any flowers at all.  OBJECT LESSON (and key lesson): Each of us are looking at the same world, but we see things differently.  When we understand that each person sees things a little (or a lot) differently then us, we have more compassion when it comes to our differences.  We had a GREAT time!  First, I love interacting with junior high & high schoolers…then let me talk about the ENNEAGRAM with them… BONUS!   (Shameless plug- I LOVE doing this at schools AND as a Breakout or Workshop leaders. It’s seriously the coolest… If you have questions, go to my “Work with Lindsay” page and let’s start up a conversation to see if this is something we can work out!)

  • SUNDAY! We went to the Cardinals/White Sox game with my whole side of the fam.  It was American Cancer Society day, so there was TONS of extra activities that we got to do.  The girls all got dumplings, we got FREE hotdogs, sodas & ice cream sandwiches.  Before the game, we walked around the field.  We all walked out with a little bit of sun, but we WON 3-1.  And a good time was had by all.

HOLY SPIRIT MOMENTS

  • Remember last weeks Holy Spirit moment?  Talking with this kids was kind of an affirmations of what I believe God is letting me step in to.

  • 2nd… What is something I’m already doing that God is using that I don’t realize?  Small Business and doing it with integrity… doing it God’s way!  I’ve been hard a work on something that I’ve seen God’s hand over time & time again.  coming soon! promise.

SHOPPING CART

  • On my way to Arcola, I got to support one of my best friends & fellow small biz gals, Shannon, at her flower shop in Mohomet! Got an arrangement for Miss Melton! Here’s Shan’s Shop :: Village Garden Shoppe

  • We got a THRIVE MARKET box…. Because i forgot to cancel it.  😀 I appreciate the convenience of it, and that’s how they price the box.  It’s also been a learning curve to discover what I like & don’t like.  Currently, I’m rating it 75/100.  All clean products (not artificial colors & such).  The reason I bring this up is because I LOVE their fire roasted tomatoes.  See below in the recipes… I made a change to my salsa recipe that we all LOVE!  (You’re welcome to try Thrive, but NO PRESSURE! If you click the link above, you get 40% off and I get a kickback for my next box)

3 THINGS I’M GRATEFUL FOR

  • Our Cardinals Game trip this last weekend.

  • A husband who lets me flex sometimes AND then he’s proud of me for it.  *love you, babe!

  • This semester's schedule.  What I thought would be boredom has given me time to do some tasks that I’ve been meaning to do for a WHILE!

TOP RECIPES

  • I could walk you through how to make spaghetti AGAIN!.... But um. No.

  • About every week, I’ve been making a batch of homemade salsa.  The recipe is AMAZING!  I’m making a reel this week with it, but HERE’S THE SECRET:  Hold off on some juice & 3 of the tomatoes in the can of whole tomatoes & use a can of fire roasted tomatoes!  GAME CHANGER!  Such a better flavor.  Yes, this recipe is the salsa we used at the restaurant, so be ready for the reel this week!

FINAL BRAIN DUMP

There is a difference between being a small business owner and an entrepreneur.  I’m starting to learn what all that entails.  Some big questions I’ve been asking myself this week:

“Why am I continuing to build up this business?”
“What am I doing to work myself out of a job?”
“What’s my definition of a successful business?”
Both are GOOD and necessary in the economy… also both have their own sets of obstacles.  But what has God called Nathan & I to?  What’s our 30 day plan, or 60 day plan, our 90 day plan?  What’s our 5 yr plan… maybe our 10!  Woow that’s extreme.  But, in all we plan we LEAVE ROOM FOR GOD to pivot us to where He plans.  We may bump knees and feel some stretch, but God’s been faithful and He’s not stopping now.
